If your nasal passages remain open, you can prevent yourself from snoring. If you are congested, or your nasal passages become constricted, you'll snore. If you catch a cold try and unclog your nose by using vapor rubs, humidifiers, or steam showers. You may also use nasal strips that lift the nostrils, which allows more air to go through.

It does not matter whether you are normally classified as lactose intolerant or not; snoring is commonly caused by the consumption of dairy items. Dairy products make the body produce more phlegm. This substance blocks passageways in the nose and throat that are used for breathing. If you usually have warm milk at bedtime, try hot mint or cinnamon tea, instead! That will help you relax and open your airways!

Many people are advocates of a cure aptly named "tennis ball cure". The tennis ball cure is a unique method which involves attaching a tennis ball to the back of your pajamas. The ball will remind you to not lay on your back, even when you sleep. After you get accustomed to sleeping on either side, you will not have to use the tennis ball any more.

The best position in which to sleep for those who snore regularly, is on their sides. Studies show that snoring is not as likely to happen if you sleep on your side. A change of position might be something to get used to, but it is an effective way to prevent snoring.

If you tend to snore, do not skip your breakfast or lunch. If you have had two hearty meals, you will be able to eat a light dinner. Lying in a prone position with a full stomach will make it difficult to breathe.

Use an simple tongue exercise to alleviate snoring. Run your tongue across the back side of your upper teeth. Slide your tongue backwards, then slide it forward against your teeth. Do this repeatedly for three minutes. Working on the muscles in this process will help keep your passageways open and reduce the risk of snoring.

You have loved ones who want you to be around for a long time, so taking care of your health is of the utmost important both to yourself and to them. Managing snoring can help you stay healthier and is definitely worth the effort. You can do it!
